Welsh Darts Stars to Compete for Leighton Rees Cup in Merthyr Tydfil
The Petwise Leighton Rees Cup will see Wales’ top dart players do battle in Merthyr Tydfil in a celebration of Welsh darts.

Premier League star and 2018 Grand Slam Champion Gerwyn Price, former BDO World Champion and Sky Sports Darts pundit Mark Webster, three-time PDC title winner Jonny Clayton and 2017 World Championship semi-finalist Jamie Lewis will compete at the Penydarren Social Club on November 20.
Also on show will be Welsh stars of past and present Richie Burnett, Jim Williams, Peter Locke, Barrie Bates, Ritchie Davies, Jonathan Worsley, Wayne Warren and Dai Caller.
The first round draw has thrown up some exciting ties which will no doubt produce some tasty tungsten tussles:
Gerwyn Price v Peter Locke
Jim Williams v Wayne Warren
Barrie Bates v Jonathan Worsley
Jamie Lewis v Ritchie Davies
Mark Webster v Richie Burnett
Jonny Clayton v Dai Caller
“There is nothing quite like a night at the darts and I’m really looking forward to this one” said Mark Webster, who claimed the Red Dragon Port Talbot Darts Masters crown in June.
“Leighton Rees was a giant of the game we all love. Not only was he the first big Welsh star but he was also the first ever World Champion and it will be fantastic to honour him and celebrate darts in Wales with this unique event.”

Leighton Rees won the inaugural World Professional Darts Championship in 1978 and was runner-up the following year. One of the sports first icons, Rees passed away in 2003.
